Over a 28% response rate to this direct mailer!
Our goal was to target members of an affiliated physician association and convince them to switch their liability insurance. We chose direct mail because of its ability to convey information to a very specific market and it allowed us to include a response card. We hand-addressed the invitation-styled envelope which sped past the “gatekeepers” and on to our target market – doctors and administrators. The mailing also included a brochure that got their attention (in this case with a $2 bill glued to the front) and a letter detailing the benefits of the company.
The doctors were also offered discounted insurance premiums and a chance to win free airline tickets. Well, you might think it was the free airline tickets, but this company had given away free airline tickets before and never received more than a 2% response. It was a great combination of concept, copywriting, implementation, and marketing techniques that led to the terrific response.
